2006 New and CLEANIE Every year new products emerge into the market without as much as a peep. This year there are numerous exciting products being launched and Powerboat Magazine is the first place to find out what is new! Inside 303 Shower Shield 303 has been a leader in polymer protection sprays, namely the 303 Aerospace Protectant. This year 303 has introduces a new shower shield that claims to leave a “super repellent finish” this will not allow mineral deposits to build up in your shower and keeps it looking cleaner. This product can be used in your whole bathroom for fiberglass, tile, marble, plastic laminates, counter tops, porcelain, stainless and chrome. Meguiar’s Meguiar’s continues their marine line in 2006 with the addition of new cleaners and protectants and finally a line of marine accessories. For your inside they have the ever important Odor Eliminator that will remove that musky boat smell and keep your cabin smelling like Martha Stewart meets Yankee Candle. For your portholes Meguiar’s Marine introduces a glass cleaner so annoying onlooker can always see exactly what is going on in your cabin. For crazy nights when some choice beverages may be spilled on the carpet there is the new Carpet and Upholstery Cleaner. Moving to the outside, Meguiar’s Marine Black Streak Remover is a new product that may be geared for a 40 foot Mainship but could find a place on your Speedy boat when you let your Cleanie guard down. A two part metal system is being introduced with a polish (Meguiar’s Metal Polish) and protectant (Meguiar’s Metal Guard). This dynamic duo will make your teeth shine like a rap stars teeth, I mean dubs. The other dynamic duo is Meguiar’s Canvas Cleaner and Canvas Protect, which will keep water running off your boat cover like that off a ducks back or Donald Trumps hair. The real jewel is the 2006 lineup is Meguiar’s group of accessory’s specially developed for your boat. With a new “High Tech Applicator” that is very nice “High Tech” piece of foam to evenly distribute your waxes and polish. For those of us stuck in the 21st century there is the Even Coat Applicator that incorporates a foam base covered in a micro-fiber fabric. Polishing can now be accomplished with the Glass Duo-Fiber Super Towel which is a combination of cotton and micro-fiber to provide superior glass cleaning and absorption. What accessory line would be complete without a wash mitt? This mitt combines an aggressive fabric for cleaning gelcoats, possibly too aggressive for your prized paintjob. To add to your arsenal of drying products Meguiar’s has a plethora of thirsty accessories.
Now there are accessories made by Meguiar’s just for your boat you can sleep at night knowing your boat is in good hands. Outside Swobbit This year Swobbit introduces a new line of brushes that solves the color coding issue that resulted from having two yellow brushes, one for medium and one for medium stiff. This has been solved by what Swobbit calls “The New Colors of Clean” these colors are: Purple- Extra-Soft Green/Yellow- Soft flagged Orange- Medium Aqua- Stiff In addition to funky new colors with the same quality construction Swobbit has added 35% more fill to their brushes, making their brushes nicely colored, plump and almost good enough to eat. We still are waiting for scented brush heads. Swobbit also has a flexible version of their wonderful silicone T-Head water blade; this enables the boat owner to dry rounded corners easily and quickly! 3M This year 3M is making waves with their new Scotchgard Marine Liquid Wax which is a new protectant developed to protect your boats finish longer than anything else, and 3M guarantees it! With longer protection and increased gloss 3M is truly raising the bar in marine cleaning. 3M Marine Color/Gloss Restorer is a new compound/polish that is designed to cut down old oxidation quickly and use a finishing material to polish the surface to a high gloss. With no waxes or silicones what you see is what you get, you can monitor the progress of your polishing until you get the resulted wanted and then can apply a protectant. Aurora is celebrating their 25th birthday making marine care products. With this come two new products. Aurora Premium Boat Shine and Repelin. Both products include Aurora’s proprietary VS721 polymer. This Polymer make the Premium boat shine seal the gel coat by chemically bonding to the surface. Aurora stands behind their products 100% so like 3M will give you your money back if their products don’t perform as they say they will. Aurora Repelin is a product to apply to the bottom of your inflatable or RBI that will not only keep marine growth off the bottom but also make it go faster. In this case the VS721 polymer can improve the top speed of a soft bottom inflatable 3 mph. This product can also be added to your boat bottom. Stay tuned more information! DF Cord Sock Finally a product has been made that will make everyone’s life better. Dominique France Motorsports has released the DF Cord Sock comes from the makers of the DF Towel, the Alpine Micro-fiber (not synthetic) spoken about in last years Micro-fiber article. This year the same fabric has been made into a cord sock that not only keeps your polishing cord nice and warm in the winter but also will keep it from scuffing a nicely polished boat. This product can be used on a million different items that you may drag across your boat, from hoses to power chords and will not scratch or scuff the surface. The Return of Dolphinite! As many of you know Dolphinite brand disappeared from the market after lawsuits dealing with a product they sold that did not perform as intended. The courts have since cleared Dolphinite of any charges of wrongdoing and they are now going to re-launch their core boat care products. T-Wax Cleaner Wax Color Restorer Fiberglass Cleaner Teak Brightener Boat Soap These are products that I know and love and it is great to have them back on the market. Don’t be fooled by imitation products by the same name.
